Then …
The
first record in Oneida County of the
now “Alee’s” property
was by a Post Purchase document prepared
by Charles C. Broadhead in June 1816.
Ownership changed many times throughout
the 1800’s.
In
the early 1900’s this property
was then known as the Hotel Martin Garage
(one of the original signs was discovered
during renovation) owned by the Martin
family (and partially by a religious
asylum) and was used in conjunction
with the Hotel Martin. In August 1912,
the garage was conveyed by the First
Citizens Bank and Trust Company of Utica
to the Mullman Corporation.
Subsequent
ownerships included the Savings Bank
of Utica, the City of Utica, Thrift
Homes of Oneida County, Inc., the ECO
Development Corporation, the New York
State Teamsters Council Welfare Trust
Fund and in 1992 the MCP Development
Corporation who held the ownership until
2005.
Now …
After
the purchase, remodeling began to achieve
the desired theme for Alee’s.
